ACCESSORIES for FOOTWEAR & LEATHERGOODS Sector has started today at Expo Zone of International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka. The tradeshow will go on till 23 NOVEMBER 2024.
Shah Mohammad Mahboob, Executive Member (Additional Secretary), Marketing & Communication, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), served as the chief guest at the inauguration program.
The event was further enriched by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including A.K.M. Mushfiqur Rahman Masud, President of the Leather Engineers & Technologists Society, Bangladesh; Md. Golam Shahnewaz, Managing Director of Dhaka Tannery Industrial Estate Wastage Treatment Plant Company Ltd.

Nearly 200 exhibitors from 20 countries has participated in the 10th edition. Over the years it has become the most preferred platform to penetrate and explore the Bangladesh Leather,Footwear and Travel goods sector.
Bangladesh Leather and Leather Products sector is growing and expanding. Manufacturers want to have updated technology and solutions which address quality, efficiency, and environmental concerns.
New players who are planning to enter the sector always wait for LEATHERTECH BANGLADESH to visit, understand and source their needs.
Recent quarter has seen exports hit 5-year high which augurs well for the sector after prolonged period of suffering since the pandemic with new orders flowing in. Despite the economic slowdown in some markets, local exporters are receiving increasing orders from overseas. Bangladesh’s competitive labour costs has made “Made in Bangladesh” shoes more affordable.
Speaking as the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony, Shah Mohammad Mahboob, Executive Member (Additional Secretary) of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), said, “If the full potential of the leather and leather products sector can be utilized, it will be possible to significantly increase the country’s export earnings.
This exhibition of leather,leather products and sector-related technology products will play an important role in
increasing exports.”
“Participation from China has revived as their participation for the current edition is significant which in turn reflects the potential of the Footwear and Leather Products sector in Bangladesh. Over the years LEATHERTECH Bangladesh has established itself as “The Leather Industry Networking Forum” for the Footwear and Travel Goods sector.

The Bangladesh Leather and Forward Linkage Sectors (domestic as well as export) are poised to leapfrog given the quality and the capability of the Bangladesh Factories to manufacture high quality products.
The sector is in anticipation of LWG certification post which the markets are bound to expand and exports higher. Bangladesh is working towards consolidating its position as a reliable supplier.
The sector is back on track in exporting across the world overcoming the temporary slowdown in production due to political turmoil which has become a thing of the past.
